Creamy Taro Paste with Just 4 Ingredients
This homemade taro paste is smooth, creamy, and lightly sweetened, perfect for using in desserts or enjoying on its own. Easy to make with just four ingredients, it's a versatile recipe that every taro lover will adore.
- 300 g taro
- 4 g purple sweet potato powder optional
- 105 g heavy cream
- 25 g granulated sugar
Steam the Taro
Peel the taro and cut it into evenly sized small chunks.
Place the taro pieces in a steamer and steam over high heat for 20–25 minutes. Test doneness by piercing with a chopstick; if it slides in easily, the taro is fully cooked.
Initial Flavoring
While the steamed taro is still hot, transfer it to a large bowl. Add 25g of granulated sugar.
Use a masher or rolling pin to lightly mash the taro, allowing the sugar to dissolve using the residual heat.
Add Purple Sweet Potato Powder (Optional)
If you'd like to enhance the color, add 4g of purple sweet potato powder. Mash and mix until the powder is evenly incorporated, giving the taro paste a lovely purple hue.
Incorporate Heavy Cream
Pour 105g of heavy cream into the bowl. Start whisking at a low speed to combine the ingredients, then switch to medium speed. Continue whisking until the paste becomes smooth and creamy, with no visible lumps.
